Responsible for assisting the promotion and selling of Salem & the Mid-Willamette Valley as a premier sports destination to local, regional and national event planners with an emphasis on generating city- wide overnight lodging. This position is part of the Sports program and will coordinate with the team to deliver results.

Reports to Sports & Events Sales Manager

Sales & Marketing

• Support promotional efforts to sell Salem as an event destination to a wide range of sports groups

• Contact potential event and sports planners to set appointments for Sales Manager and provide support as needed with sales leads

• Coordinate site tours of the Salem region

• Coordinate Sports program marketing, advertising and social media deliverables with Marcom

• Assist with in-market sports promotion at events (e.g., Hoopfest, Les Schwab Invitational)

Event Research

• Research new and existing events and sports opportunities (proactive & reactive) as directed

Administrative Duties

• Maintain ongoing database of accounts, contacts, leads, and bookings

• Assist monthly, quarterly, annual and lost business reports for sports sales

• Coordinate Salem Area Sports Commission meetings, prepare meeting packet and take minutes at all meetings

• Coordinate services needs for sports groups with Conventions Services Coordinator

• Collect sports events information to be included on Market Demand Calendar and coordinate with Conventions Services Coordinator

Miscellaneous

• Other duties assigned by supervisor

• Requires some evenings, weekends and travel

• Vehicle required and valid unencumbered Oregon Driver’s License

• Able to lift a minimum of 25 pounds
