The Chamber is a non-profit, membership-based economic engine and Destination Marketing Organization (DMO) serving Southern Beaufort County, Hilton Head Island, and Bluffton. The VCB is a division of the Chamber.  Our mission is to promote and develop the visitor economy, enhancing quality of life and prosperity for our communities.

Position Summary:
The Research Manager will support the organization’s research strategy by executing research projects, and analyzing and reporting data, and providing actionable insights to enhance sales, marketing, and visitor experience efforts.

Candidate Profile:
The ideal candidate values teamwork, is analytical, detail-oriented, understands the tourism industry and is eager to learn. They will manage their time effectively, understand organizational goals, and represent the Chamber with credibility and expertise. They possess the business acumen to understand how the Chamber’s programs and initiatives contribute to the success of those goals. They should be skilled at translating complex data into easily understandable insights and be open and able to inform and advise team members on how to best utilize data for the goals of the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage data systems, collection processes, and storage to ensure data quality for decision-making.
• Oversee analytical tools, KPIs, and outcome metrics; interpret complex data to support Chamber goals.
• Proven ability to translate complex data findings into clear, actionable insights for diverse stakeholders.
• Leverage data visualization to aid internal communication and decision-making.
• Analyze visitor engagement and provide insights to improve marketing and visitor experiences.
• Collaborate with a regional economist to analyze Hotel and Home & Villa performance, visitor profiles, and tourism trends.
• Conduct market and competitor research to inform sales, marketing, and product development strategies.
• Assist with grant applications, reporting, and communications with stakeholders.
• Respond to data inquiries from media, developers, members, and stakeholders.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in finance, statistics, business, or related field.
• 5+ years of experience in a similar role.
• Experience in the travel and tourism industry preferred.
• Familiarity with platforms like STR, Keydata, Zartico, Drupal, Simpleview, and Placer AI.
• Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. and attend events outside normal hours.
• On-site role at 1 Chamber of Commerce Drive, Hilton Head Island, SC 29928.
