Position: Group Sales Manager

Visit Boulder is the official destination marketing organization contracted by the City of Boulder. As a sales and marketing organization, the main objective of Visit Boulder is to provide leadership promoting Boulder’s natural environment, arts, culture, innovation, and the visitor experience to support economic vitality and our quality of life.

The Group Sales Manager reports to the Director of Group Sales. The Group Sales Manager will be responsible for promoting and selling Boulder, CO as a premier meetings and conferences destination, with the goal of generating room nights for area hotels.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Responsible for lead generation, qualification, and conversion of leads based on designated market through prospecting, sales calls, client events, digital communication, and tradeshow participation.
• Serve as a liaison between clients, Boulder hotels and other Boulder area venues; distribute leads within assigned territory to hotel, unique venue, and restaurant partners; all leads to be distributed to partners within one business day; follow up with timely communication to clients and partners.
• Implement and manage sales initiatives within assigned territory; communicate with clients proactively to build and maintain relationships; manage and execute client site tours as required.
• Plan and execute client and partner events; manage participation of assigned tradeshows.
• Use department related databases to maintain shared record of past, current, and prospective clientele; develop and maintain accurate key contact listing for new or existing clients through research, client events, tradeshows, and other industry resources.
• Develop interest in Boulder, CO as a meetings and conferences destination through sales presentations, tradeshow participation, and client events; make compelling verbal presentations and clearly present the distinct features and advantages of Boulder as a meetings and conferences destination.
• Actively maintain professional national association memberships and involvement specific to designated market segments; other duties and projects as assigned.

Qualifications:

• 5 years of hotel, tourism and/or hospitality industry experience
• Ability to work collaboratively

• Excellent interpersonal communication skills
• Presentation skills
• Proven problem analysis and resolution skills; exceptional analytical skills
• Strong event planning, organizational and project management skills
• Ability to attend industry events and travel locally and nationally, including nights and weekends.
