The Sports & Events Manager will be a direct report to the Parks and Recreation Director, assisting in promoting and coordinating sporting events at Broussard’s two biggest parks, as well as performing other operational duties as directed. Supervision of staff, financial and budgetary management, marketing and event coordination, and sporting equipment management, to name a few, are additional expectations. This individual will be responsible for being available outside of normal working hours as needed and will respond to emergency on-call situations.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Market and recruit tournaments to facility
Recruit, train, manage, and evaluate student staff for facilities’ operations
Work to improve residents’ and visitors’ experiences at the parks
Assist in scheduling and executing tournaments
Handle reservation requests, bookings, staffing, and invoicing
Participate in and provide ongoing staff training, including policies and procedures, etc.
Manage software such as Civic Rec and other related applications
All other duties related to the management of sports and recreation, as directed by the Mayor or Parks and Recreation Director
Required Education, Experience, and Knowledge:
High School Diploma or equivalent
Bachelor’s Degree in business, marketing, sports management, or a related field
Minimum of two years of related experience
Strong written and verbal communication
Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)
Valid Louisiana Driver’s License
Preferred Education, Experience, and Knowledge:
Master’s Degree in business, sports management, or a related field
Experience in budgetary management
Promotion, marketing, and/or sales experience
Physical and Environmental Conditions:
Duties are generally performed city-wide in both outdoor and indoor settings. Individual must be able to lift, move, push, or pull 10-30 pounds. Work requires walking, standing, kneeling, crouching, stooping, pushing, pulling, and climbing.
Requires 24-hour on-call availability, including weekends, nights, holidays, and before, during, and after adverse weather conditions and emergency situations, as required and needed.
