GENERAL MANAGER BRIDGEPORT INDOOR SPORTS AND RECREATION COMPLEX
LOCATION: Bridgeport, West Virginia STATUS: FULL-TIME (EXEMPT)
The Bridgeport Sports and Recreation Complex is located in beautiful and historic Bridgeport, West Virginia, two hours north of the state capital, Charleston, WV and two hours south of Pittsburgh, PA. Bridgeport’s history is a story of steady advancement, beautiful homes, great city services, the finest of schools, and unequaled recreational amenities.
The facility is planned to be open in the February of 2021. The multisport facility will feature 6 basketball/volleyball courts, indoor turf field, competition swimming pool, full fitness center, indoor track, climbing area, and more. The 150,000+ square foot facility plans to feature first-class amenities such as locker rooms, full café and meeting/party rooms.
The General Manager is responsible for the financial and operating performance of our client's facility. The objectives for this position include:
1.Promote, book, and execute tournaments and sports tourism events 2.Develop and lead recreational and competitive local sports programming 3.Lead new business development, and new program expansions 4.Facilitate interdepartmental collaboration, and partnership with local education institutions and sports organizations 5.Provide leadership and direction for the facility and its staff 6.Create a culture of accountability which supports the organizational values 7.Meet or exceed annual growth objectives 8.Optimize the financial performance of the facility 9.Customer retention and community service 10.Implementation of best-in-class technology 11.Manage overall food and beverage operations
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: •Analyze operations to evaluate the performance of the facility and its staff in order to meet objectives, and determine areas of potential cost reduction, program improvement, or policy change •Lead department heads or managers, and assign or delegate responsibilities to them oEstablish departmental responsibilities and coordinate functions among departments and sites •Collaborate with city officials, advisors & support team, and staff members to discuss issues, coordinate activities, and resolve problems •Coordinate the development and implementation of budgetary control systems, recordkeeping systems, and other administrative control processes •Direct human resources activities, including the approval of human resource plans and activities, the selection of directors and other high-level staff, and establishment and organization of major departments •Implement corrective action plans to solve organizational or departmental problems •Represent the organization and promote its objectives at official functions, or delegate representatives to do so •Serve as liaisons between organizations, shareholders, and outside organizations. •Negotiate or approve contracts and agreements with suppliers, distributors, federal and state agencies, and other organizational entities •Organize and approve promotional campaigns •Prepare budgets for approval, including those for funding and implementation of programs •Lead staff to deliver superb customer service
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: •Prior responsibility in daily P&L management and budget oversight of $1mm or more •Proven management and leadership experience in the food and beverage, recreational, and events •Operational knowledge of F&B and sport clubs as well as parties, corporate events, and team building preferred •Prior experience managing a sport, recreation or entertainment venue •Prior experience managing marketing programs and campaigns •Prior experience creating and running events •A minimum of 7 years of management experience •Operational knowledge of risk management •Skilled at identifying and creating opportunities to deliver revenue goals •Sports programming and sports event operations expertise required •Bachelor's degree in business management, sports management, marketing, hospitality, related field, or equivalent experience
• Minimal travel (estimated 3-5 times annually)
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS • Must be able to lift 50 pounds' waist high • May be required to sit or stand for extended periods of time whether indoors or outdoors • May be required to squat, stoop or bend • Will be required to operate a computer • Facility has intermittent noise
