The Business Intelligence Director is an active member of the management team who oversees the research, technology overview and Business Intelligence (“BI”) department. This position provides business trends, market intelligence and technology activation of strategy to all business leaders within Visit Anaheim and the community when needed.
In collaboration with the Senior Vice President of Sales & Services, develop and execute a strategic plan to position BI as the go-to team for all research, business trends and data-oriented functions to support all business units within Visit Anaheim. Collaborate with executive team to support Visit Anaheim’s vision of being the Destination Marketing Organization (DMO) of the future, oversee activation of technology strategy and position BI as a leader in the DMO marketplace.
Responsibilities will include but are not be limited to:
Oversee and supervise the Business Intelligence (“BI”) Department including management of budgets, project assignments and coordination, ongoing meetings with department leaders, update on projects, reports and business trends. Primary liaison to support vendors on the administration of the data capturing and integration to Visit Anaheim CRM.
Collaborate with department leaders to monitor, track, develop dashboard/analytics and report on the ROI of business activities. Oversee development of the reports and dashboards to illustrate success of departments and organization. Direct and report on destination business and visitor research projects. Provide ongoing training on Simpleview to each department to ensure data is captured correctly in CRM.
Activation and monitor of technology strategy. Collaboration with technology outsources to ensure services provide support technology strategy and Visit Anaheim mission.
Ensure support is provided to Marketing/Tourism team to capture visitor and meetings metric reports, leading to usable sales and marketing strategies for partners, board and staff. Support website team to analyze traffic, website analytics and RFP conversion, size, geography, industry and provide trends/action items for departments to plan strategically.
Ensure support is provided to Convention Sales to capture Pace reports, Event Economic Impact Calculations, Leads, Bookings, Conversion for Sales Production Reports. Collaborate with department leaders to created standardize reports for sales team to utilize. Create standard/consistent procedures for all reports reinforced by industry standards and Visit Anaheim guidelines.
Ensure support is provided to Partnership to capture and report on partner ROI from internal departments (Tourism, Marketing, Sales, Services & Strategic Events). Develop standard reports and business trends to be utilized by partnership in soliciting and/or retaining partners. Make recommendations on how partner data is stored in Visit Anaheim database. Assist in development of Partnership dashboards and partnership ROI reports
Competitive Analysis – Provide thorough and ongoing analysis/reporting of Meetings, Conventions and tourism competitor destinations.
Project Management – Direct various BI projects from initial planning to completion, as assigned.
Communicate with appropriate diplomacy and sensitivity to internal and external customers/partners.
Other duties assigned by Senior Vice President of Sales & Services.
Required: Bachelor of Science in Business, Finance, Accounting, Computer Science or related field.
Preferred: Master’s Degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Computer Science, Hospitality, or related field. Concentration in Marketing, Business or Economics preferred.
Required: At least 5 years in technology, research, business intelligence, data analytics role, with previous management experience. Strong leadership and consensus building skills; strategic planning experience, a proven track record in develop and execute strategic plans.
Preferred: Minimum two years in Business Intelligence, Research and/or technology management.
Required: Detailed-oriented with ability to oversee projects from origin through execution. Ability to understand and aggregate data and translate it to business trends and action items. Willingness to learn and ability to flourish in a high growth, dynamic, entrepreneurial environment. Superior communication skills, both oral and written. Self-starter, with hands on approach towards business.
Preferred: Computer knowledge of Macintosh systems and PC systems, software knowledge of Simpleview, Business Intelligence platforms (MS Business Intelligence, Tableau) Excel, Microsoft Word, Outlook, SAGE, Paycom, Ring Central and Windows XP.
