The West Michigan Sports Commission promotes the Greater Grand Rapids area as a premier destination for youth and amateur sports. The candidate for the National Sales Manager position will step into a thriving sports commission with a proven track record for attracting major statewide, regional and national sporting events. This individual will join a dynamic team that is led by a supportive board geared toward making the West Michigan region a leader in hosting youth and amateur sports events of all levels. The National Sales Manager will be responsible for building on existing momentum of generating hotel room nights and visitor spending for Grand Rapids and the greater Kent County region through development of new sports event business.
Position requires a proven track record of sales development, preferably in the sports tourism industry. The National Sales Manager will be required to accomplish measurable results in lead production and achieving established sales room night goals. Candidate must display excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong presentation skills, the ability to work independently while creating good rapport with potential clients, industry partners and the general public. Detailed reporting and client database management through Simpleview CRM. Position requires a four-year college degree with equal time spent in a sales capacity with proven results. Requires the willingness and ability to travel as needed and work weekends and holidays as job requires.
