VisitDallas is an independent, not-for-profit organization comprised of professionals serving as the sales and marketing arm for Dallas. Our mission is to promote Dallas as the ideal business and leisure destination to the regional, national, and international marketplace, and to favorably impact the Dallas economy through conventions and tourism.
Our efforts have significantly increased awareness of Dallas locally, nationally, and internationally, and have resulted in Dallas being recognized as one of the top convention destinations in the nation and the number one visitor destination in the state of Texas.
Assist in a services capacity for all international leisure markets. Responsible for coordinating and implementing familiarization tours and events. Assist in room night collections and account management. This position will also assist in the generation of collateral and promotional needs. Responsible for assisting in cooperative planning, conference and trade show appointments, promotions, and account management. Assist the Senior Director of Tourism as needed.
Arrange and implement tourism familiarization tours and site inspections for international clients and prospects
Based on the Tourism Department team goal, achieve monthly services goal; distribute, collect and report room nights
Work effectively with a wide range of people
Ability to speak in front of groups and in public settings
Assist in immediate follow-up on all international sales initiatives
Obtain new tourism business in both trade and consumer promotions, working with VisitDallas members to coordinate these efforts
Ability to sell Dallas as a leisure tourism product passionately and effectively
Write content for travel trade and consumer platforms
Maintain strong business, professional, and ethical relationships with VisitDallas members and global clients
Create and update itineraries and additional collateral for the department, working with VisitDallas marketing department
Maximize budget and department resources effectively and within budget constraints
Be eligible to travel internationally
Ability to lift and carry items not to exceed 30 pounds
Responsible for other assigned duties as directed by the Senior Vice President of Tourism and the Senior Director of Tourism
This position reports to the Senior Director of Tourism and indirect support as needed to the Senior Vice President of Tourism.
Bachelor’s degree preferred
Working knowledge of tourism group and FIT markets highly preferred
Related work experience: Tourism, CVB, hotel sales or attraction sales background preferred, but not required
Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred, but not required. Fluency in English required.
Excellent writing skills
Strong computer skills; CRM experience preferred
Proficient in all MS Office Applications; In-Design preferred
Upbeat and professional communication skills
Strong awareness of the Dallas visitor/tourism product
Working knowledge of the hospitality industry
Ability to build and keep strong business and supplier relationships
Ability to respond to changing priorities
Good listening skills
Coordinating multiple deadline driven projects
Creative and strategic in sales and services roles
Strong organizational, written and verbal communication skills
Flexibility to travel and work evenings, weekends and holidays
